What is a Pulse Oximeter?

It is an user-friendly device used to monitor the level of oxygen saturation in the blood, which is represented by SpO2(%).

USING A PULSE OXIMETER CORRECTLY

Step 1:
  • Remove any nail polish and warm your hand off if cold
Step 2:
  • Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking your measurement
Step 3:
  • Place your hands on the chest area at heart level
Step 4:
  • Switch on the oximeter and place it on your index or middle finger
Step 5:
  • Keep the oximeter in place for at least 1 minute or until the reading is stable
Step 6:
  • Record the highest result once it has not changed for 5 seconds
